EQUITONE Panel Performance Standards
- Fire Safety: Classified as noncombustible (EN 13501 standards). Some specific assemblies (e.g., Tectiva and Natura with visible fastening) are rated for one-hour fire-resistance when tested from the interior side per ICC-ES reports. EQUITONE architectural panels meet strict fire codes and reduce fire spread risk.
- Durability: Engineered for a service life of 50+ years, with high resistance to UV rays, extreme temperatures, and frost. Long lifecycle lowers the total cost of ownership and supports long-term asset value.
- Weather Resistance: Rated ASTM C1186 Grade III for flexural strength and passed requirements for freeze/thaw resistance and water tightness. Reduces risk of envelope failure and minimizes maintenance—especially valuable in harsh or variable climates.
- Environmental Impact: EQUITONE is Cradle to Cradle Certified® and recyclable, supported by detailed Environmental Product Declarations. Helps architects and owners meet sustainability goals, support LEED® credits, and make transparent, responsible material choices.
Physical and Material Properties
- Density: High-density construction ensures impact resistance and prevents warping or swelling from moisture.
- Panel Thickness: Standard thicknesses include 8 mm and 12 mm.
- Weight: An 8 mm panel weighs approximately 34 lbs/m²; a 12 mm panel is roughly 50.25lbs/m².
- Maximum Size: Panels are available in large formats up to approximately 4 ft x 10 ft.
United States-Based North American Headquarters
Since 2013, the EQUITONE North American headquarters in Maryville, Tennessee, has supported architects and contractors with European-inspired craftsmanship and local expertise. US-based technical support, on-site installation training, job-site guidance, and inspections ensure that projects are completed in a way that honors the architect’s vision and the owner’s satisfaction.
Installation Approach
Install EQUITONE high-density fiber cement architectural panels using a rainscreen system. A rear ventilation or rainscreen system protects the building structure and the whole building from the elements for decades. On hot, sunny days, a rainscreen system vents hot air from the cavity between the panel and the next layer of the wall, preventing heat build-up. On wet days, airflow dries moisture – keeping the building envelope dry.
